This talk discusses the disability access requirements for Class 1b buildings, including rooming houses, boarding houses, bed & breakfasts, small student accommodation buildings and holiday cabins. In 2011, building and disability legislation changed to require most Class 1b buildings to include accessible features for people with disability. Developments that are required to meet the Livable Housing Australia (LHA) Design Guidelines, as well as Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) design categories (under the National Disability Insurance Scheme) must comply with the LHA Design Guidelines.
