Membership classes

Membership classes

ACAA has 6 classes of membership which can be applied for.

  • Accredited Member
  • Associate Member
  • Affiliate Member
  • Retired Member
  • Student Member
  • Corporate Sponsor

There are 3 classes of membership which can only be filled by Management Committee appointment.

  • Fellow
  • Honorary Member
  • Life Member

If you are contemplating joining our association, you are encouraged to read all the material shown here carefully.

The base entry level to the Association for those practicing as Access Consultants is as an Associate.

Accredited Member (individuals only)

Accredited Member (individuals only)

An Accredited Member:

  • supports the objectives of the Association
  • has full membership voting rights
  • participates in the Association’s Continuing Professional Development Program
  • is engaged in access consulting in some way on an ongoing basis
  • has been an Associate Member for the specified period
  • must have passed an Accreditation Test
  • agrees to the Policy on use of the ACAA Logo
  • Check rules on applying for accredited membership
Associate Member (individuals only)

Associate Member (individuals only)

An Associate Member:

  • supports the objectives of the Association
  • is engaged in access consulting in some way on an ongoing basis
  • is not an Accredited member
  • has successfully completed the nationally recognised qualification Certificate IV in Access Consulting (or provide evidence of recognised prior learning (RPL) for the units of competency related to the Certificate IV in Access Consulting as determined via the appropriate nationally recognised RPL process).   • agrees to the Policy on use of the ACAA Logo
  • Check rules on applying for associate membership
Affiliate Member (individuals only)

Affiliate Member (individuals only)

An Affiliate Member:

  • supports the objectives of the Association
  • has an interest in access
Retired Member (individuals only)

Retired Member (individuals only)

A Retired Member:

  • supports the objectives of the Association
  • has an interest in access
  • has retired from active practice
  • wishes to continue their keen interest in the Association and access.
Student Member (individuals only)

Student Member (individuals only)

A Student Member:

  • supports the objectives of the Association
  • has an interest in access
  • is currently studying a full-time tertiary level course
  • is yet to demonstrate competency to an Accredited level, as established by the Association
Fellow (individuals only)

Fellow (individuals only)

Can only be filled by Management Committee appointment.

A Fellow:

  • has had at least 10 years continuous membership with the Association as an access consultant
  • has made a significant contribution in the field of access
Honorary Member (individuals only)

Honorary Member (individuals only)

Can only be filled by Management Committee appointment.

An Honorary Member:

  • is a person of eminence who has contributed to an accessible built environment
  • is not, nor has been a practising access consultant.
Life Member (individuals only)

Life Member (individuals only)

Can only be filled by Management Committee appointment.

A Life Member:

  • has provided meritorious service to the Association
  • may be a practicing access consultant
  • has had at least 10 years continuous membership with the Association
Corporate Sponsor (organisations only)

Corporate Sponsor (organisations only)

A Corporate Sponsor:

  • supports the objectives of the Association
  • abides by the ACAA Articles of Association
  • is a business that provides products that relate to the Access Industry
  • receives the benefits listed in our Corporate Sponsor packages
  • agrees to the Policy on use of the ACAA Logo
